this short-documentary was a passion project between samah ali and jenny jay, two visionaries capturing women with hyphenated identities in canada. 

hyphen-nation has gone onto win two national awards; 2018's video of the year at nash 80 and journalistic excellence in student media from the canadian association of university teachers. it placed second at wufs 2017 and most recently won best documentary at black web fest.

the short doc is playing at the 2018 people's film festival and currently touring with africa world documentary film festival in the united states, ghana, and south africa. it was selected in the official programs for the 2017 forest city film festivalregent park film festival, muff's society's black women film! canada x reel girl talk
